Sunday Night “Ooey Gooey” Dinner

I never was the best at making pasta for dinner. Just ask my husband when I almost made him drunk from Penne Alla Vodka. Definitely was not a success.

Over the years I improved by learning how to make my own home made tomato sauce for pizza (saving that for another Sunday Night Dinner) and bechamel sauce for my go-to ooey gooey lasagna. Secret lies in adding nutmeg, always gets people asking whats in that!?

I try to make my SND’s healthier with changing up some ingredients without losing the taste. I use turkey meat and add spinach to complete the ooey gooey yummy meal. The one thing I don’t skimp on is CHEESE- only use the best Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Ooey Gooey Recipe:

1 box oven ready Lasagna

1 lb Ground Turkey Meat (saute the turkey meat with fresh herbs while pre-heating the oven)

1 package of fresh spinach (saute and drain)

Your favorite tomato sauce or home-made sauce (will provide my home-made sauce in another post)

Cheese: Mozzarella, Parmesan, Ricotta (as much as you want- the more the ooey gooey)

Bechamel: Skim milk, flour and nutmeg

Fresh basil

Mix the spinach with the meat and your ready to start layering in an oven pan:

Tomato sauce, pasta, tomato sauce, meat/spinach, bechamel, ricotta, Parmesan, pasta, tomato sauce, meat/spinach, bechamel, ricotta, Parmesan, pasta, tomato sauce, meat/spinach, bechamel, ricotta, Parmesan, tomato sauce, Mozzarella and a sprinkle of Parmesan.

Cook with foil for 45 minutes until bubbling. Take foil off (add Basil) and put under the broiler for a minute to brown. Ready to eat!

Serve quickly while it is hot. Paired with garlic bread and a nice glass of wine and you have a perfect ooey gooey Sunday Night Dinner!

Not only do you get to enjoy Sunday Night Dinner but also LEFTOVERS! See you next week.
